Author: The prophet Hosea
The book of Hosea provides an amazing illustration of the heart of God toward his people. God tells Hosea to marry a prostitute, and as Hosea's wife cheats on him and goes after other men, God explains that Israel has done the same to Him by following after worthless idols. Rather than throwing her off, however, and finding a new wife, God in His love instructs Hosea to go buy his wife back, and to call her to true faithfulness.
